Grogus is a 6 to 9 piece latin jazz ensemble composed of Squat's extended family of musicians sometimes including UGA Jazz Band Director and pianist Steve Dancz. The Grogus sound comes from its explosive percussion section and tight horn section. Musically, Grogus focuses on Brazilian and Cuban arrangements of originals and jazz standards including compositions by Horace Silver, Cachao Lopez, Mario Bauza, and Thelonious Monk.
